ShaaniCreates Expressing GratitudeExpressing gratitude is an essential part of my daily practice. When I wake up in the morning, I give thanks to the Universe for allowing me to wake up another day. I am thankful to wake up to this new and beautiful day. I visualize the sun rising in my heart, with sun rays flowing from my heart and throughout my entire body. I connect to the divine love which is inside of me and is inside of you because we are all one. This divine energy is pure love and is inside of us all.

I say to my ancestors, guides, Spirit and the multiverse: I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you. This is a Hawaiian practice of reconciliation of prayer and forgiveness called Ho’oponopono.

Expressing gratitude as soon as I wake up in the morning sets a firm foundation for my day to flow with ease, grace, and love.

Creating space for gratitude in my life helps me in many ways:

  • Increased awareness
  • Ability to witness life as the observer
  • High vibration in the mind, body, and spirit
  • Increased ability to let go and forgive

Increased Awareness

I am more aware of my own energy as well as the energy of others. My senses are heightened and elevated. Sometimes my strong sense of smell and hearing can be overwhelming, especially in public situations. I practice grounding my energy for protection, as well as expanding my energy for integration. This helps me manage my sensory overload experiences.

I can feel when my body is unaligned because I am more aware and in tune with myself. For example, I can feel the warning signs of an anxiety attack because I studied the patterns and learned my body reacts in a certain way when I have an anxiety attack. The biggest alert from my body is a tightness and swirling ball of energy in my abdomen. I became aware of this through meditation and observation. I learned various breathing techniques to assist with gaining focus and clarity. Whenever I focus on my breath, I return to the present moment and away from the experience that triggered anxiety.

Ability to witness life as the observer

Stepping outside of myself to witness my life as the observer is one of my greatest skills. I spent a significant part of my adult life in survivor mode. This was not a healthy mindset for me and I am not my best when I am in survival mode for a prolonged time frame. As the observer of my life, I have increased awareness and more control over my reaction to an experience. I breathe to return to the present moment before I react. Stepping outside of myself as the observer is like watching myself in a television show. Imagine you are watching your favorite character in a show and you yell out to her to prevent her from doing something stupid. That is what I have learned to do for myself and I love it.
